The Armistice delegations in 1918

The context

Marshal Ferdinand Foch and the entire Allied delegation welcomed the German delegation to Foch’s headquarters temporarily installed within the 2419D carriage. Negotiations were expected to result in Germany’s surrender; otherwise, an Allied invasion led by General de Castelnau was planned along the Lorraine front.

The French delegation comprised:
