The Armistice delegations in 1940

The context

It was once again within the Rethondes Clearing that the French and German delegations assembled on 21 June 1940. However, the delegation compositions were no longer the same. 

The German delegation

The German delegation representing the Third Reich comprised:

  • –  Chancellor HITLER
  • –  Marshal KEITEL
  • –  Marhal GOERING
  • –  Admiral RAEDER
  • –  Minister Rudolf HEISS
  • –  Minister VON RIBENTROP
  • –  General VON BRAUTCHICH
  • –  General JODL

The French delegation

The surrendering delegation comprised: 

  • –  General HUNTZIGER
  • – M. Léon NOEL 
  • –  Vice Admiral LUC
  • –  General BERGERET
